The Confluence Fly Shop and the 4th Corner Fly Fishers are pleased to welcome Phil Rowley to Bellingham for a lively evening as he presents Land of the Giants-Malbec, Meat and Monster Trout. The event will be held at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, February 22. Phil Rowley is one of the most prominent names in stillwater fly fishing and is known across North America as an author, fly tyer, TV personality and energetic speaker at the many instructional seminars he hosts.

This event takes place at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. The Wet Fly, a social time/open bar time, will begin at 6:00 P.M. with dinner at 6:45. Phil Rowley’s program will begin at 7:30 P.M., followed by a raffle for all in attendance. The raffle will include a chance to win a variety of items, including signed copies of Phil’s books and DVD’s. In addition, other autographed books, DVD’s and tying materials will be available for purchase with cash or check the night of the event. Following the raffle and a break, members are invited to stay for the monthly business meeting. To attend please make a reservation.

Located in Patagonia, Lago Strobel, better known to some as Jurassic Lake is home to a rich population of what is arguably considered the largest sized trophy rainbow trout on the planet. Lago Strobel are large, strong wild fish, more steelhead or salmon than your typical stillwater rainbow trout. Lago Strobel rainbows average 15 lbs, fish 15-20 lbs are common, almost every week of the season fish over 20 lbs are caught and, fish over 25 lbs are caught each year.

Join Phil Rowley as he details all aspects of visiting this bucket list destination. Phil will provide detailed information on how easy and safe it is to visit this distant destination, what equipment to bring (including flies), what to expect in terms of accommodation and presentation tactics. The food, wine and culture only adds to this experience. In addition to the world class trout fishing Lago Strobel and the surrounding lacunas (lakes) has to offer, Patagonia offers stunning scenic beauty and wildlife abounds.
Phil’s presentation offers a wide audience appeal from scenic travel to detailed fishing. Prior to his presentation, Phil will provide an on camera tying demo featuring a number of Lago Strobel favorites. Patterns that also work equally well on local water too.
