Do you fantasize about stalking bonefish on foot? Pursuing wily permit on ocean flats while waves break over the reef just a few hundred feet away? Paddling a canoe into a mangrove lagoon where baby tarpon happily cruise, seldom pestered by anglers? If so, this is a trip for you.
We'll be making our annual return trip to Rocky Point Permit Camp on Ambergris Cay in Belize in February 2027. If you're wondering why you haven't seen us advertise this trip before, it's because it's always full and often many of the same folks return with us year after year.
We love this trip for a variety of reasons. It's budget friendly, offers relatively easy travel from the Northwest and provides unique access to target a robust variety of saltwater species on your own without a guide. This is a DIY adventure that allows you to fish when you want, where you want. You can fish the ideal morning light hours for tailing permit then read a book in the shade of a palm tree while you absorb the sounds of the sea. Or you can literally chase flats species from dawn to dusk with lunch packed to go if that's your style.

RPPC's comfortable cabanas will be our home for the week where we're about a 60 second walk from reef side flats on the front of the island or the vast network of lagoons in the back that are home to bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, jacks and some big barracuda. Owner Jeff Spiegel and crew will impress you in the kitchen with 3 meals a day with a local island flair and there's always an ice cold Belikin within arm's reach.
