About Us

Scott Willison

Scott is the owner of the Confluence Fly Shop. He’s been fly fishing for over 40 years throughout his home state of Washington, and has also fished in the Bahamas, France, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Wisconsin, Florida, British Columbia, Belize, Costa Rica, Kiribati and Mexico.

Scott has an English Writing and Teaching degree from Western Washington University, has taught in public schools and worked as an educator for the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association. Scott also guided fly fishing on area rivers and beaches prior owning the shop. He is a founding board member of North Sound Trout Unlimited.

Favorite fish? "I love them all from bluegill to tarpon but it's tough to beat a day swinging the Skagit for wild winter steelhead."

Brandon Sly

Brandon works tirelessly at the Confluence Fly Shop. Brandon grew up in Maple Valley and took up fly fishing at age 12, extensively exploring the lakes and streams in the greater King County area. He’s traveled throughout the west coast with fly rod in hand, as well as Idaho, Montana, British Columbia and the Bahamas.

Brandon holds a degree in Cultural Anthropology from WWU and has worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska, Restoration and Fisheries Tech for the Skagit River Systems Cooperative and Fisheries Tech for the WDFW in the Methow Valley. He is well versed in our local lakes, rivers, creeks and beaches and enjoys the myriad species swimming in our backyard.

Teo Bergsma

Teo Bergsma is the latest addition to the Confluence staff. He graduated from Sehome High School and currently attends the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island where we're pretty sure he is majoring in swinging flies for steelhead. Teo is as passionate about fishing as they come and his enthusiasm is absolutely infectious.

If you want the latest river report, just ask Teo, he probably fished it this morning before work as well as the day before and the day before that.

He's an avid fly tyer and is generally covered from head to toe in pink marabou, flashabou and whatever other materials he's been tying with lately.

Lindsay Lifka

Lindsay Lifka is a trout enthusiast. Born and raised outside of Chicago, she somehow found her way into the Colorado fly-fishing scene, guiding throughout Rocky Mountain National Park.

After moving to Washington in 2023, her love for alpine lakes grew. In her spare time, you can find her staring at maps and asking, “Do you think there are fish up there?”

Lindsay is the co-leader of North Sound Women on the Fly, a branch of the North Sound Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Making fly fishing accessible to everyone is a deeply rooted passion of hers. Whether she’s exploring a new backcountry lake or mentoring first-time anglers, she’s happiest when sharing the experience with others.
